There are so many benefits to joining the Sigma community, such as networking, career, research, volunteering, and educational opportunities. So why not join today?

Xi Chapter will induct new members again in Spring 2023. Application materials will be posted once available.

The University of Pennsylvania’s Xi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing, will be accepting applications for new membership in the future. The application is typically sent out via email to nursing students. We strongly encourage all qualified students to apply by completing a membership application. Contact our membership counselor, Kim Trout, if you have any questions.

Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate Students:

Must have completed at least one-half of their nursing curriculum, have a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 grading scale, and meet the expectations of academic integrity.

Graduate students (masters and doctoral):

Must have completed at least one-fourth of their nursing program of study, have a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and meet the expectations of academic integrity.

Membership Options

Candidates may also apply to be a Nurse Leader Member through STTI. Nurse Leader Members are nursing professionals who were not previously inducted as nursing students. Please visit the STTI site for the eligibility criteria related to this application, and be sure to list Xi as chapter to which you are applying.
