We believe that caring for children should be viewed within the context of their physiological, psychosocial, cognitive, and emotional responses, and offer top-ranked graduate programs that provide you with advanced specialization skills on top of a solid foundation in pediatric care.

Our programs

In addition to an innovative curriculum based on the latest research and practice methods, each of our programs includes clinical experiences at top children’s hospitals and our pediatric critical care concentrations are known for creating national leaders in the field.

Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

For those interested in the lifelong view of health and wellness for infants, children, and adolescents, we offer a program that gives you the skills to care for the smallest patients as they grow and develop.

Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

We offer three concentrations for those interested in pediatric acute care: an acute/chronic care concentration, a critical care concentration, and a one-of-a-kind concentration in pediatric oncology.

Terri has held a clinical practice in the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and has been a strong voice for nurses and children in her service to the School, the University, and our West Philadelphia community.</p>

The findings, which were recently published online in the journal <a href="https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/19417381221113840">Sports Health</a>, underscore the need for more comprehensive screening when caring for adolescents who suffer a concussion.</p></p>

These effects can also include prolonged absences from school and/or work. What has not been fully understood is the rate and duration of school absences among these children and work absences among their caregivers.</p></p>

Although most survive, little is known if they have worse long-term neurocognitive function than children who do not undergo such procedures. There are concerns about neurotoxic effects of critical illness and its treatment on the developing brain. Therefore, infants and young children may be uniquely susceptible to adverse neurocognitive outcomes after invasive mechanical ventilation.</p></p>

Targeting early factors influencing these conditions after birth and during neonatal hospitalization for cardiac surgery remains a critical need. However, significant gaps remain in understanding the best practices to improve neurodevelopmental and psychosocial outcomes for these infants.</p></p>
