What can the IDLT team do for you?
Penn Nursing ITS offers individualized training and technical support for faculty during course preparation and delivery. The team offers assistance and support for instructional design, customized course creation, technology and platform training, individualized practice sessions, tutorials, video editing, and more. Technical support is available to all faculty members, teaching assistants, course support staff, and students. For more information, please open a ticket with the IDLT team.
Whether you’re new to incorporating technology into your classes or have been doing it for years, the IDLT team wants to help you get the most out of the tools available to you at Penn. We’re happy to meet with you face-to-face or virtually to help you use our learning management system and suite of instructional tools.
We can help you:
- Get started with Canvas
- Transition to teaching online
- Follow best practices for presenting course content online
- Create engaging video lectures
- Learn and implement new learning technology
- Organize your course to help students stay on track
- Build activities that facilitate a variety of assessment methods (like peer review)

For course development help, contact us at least 4 weeks before the first day of your course.
Need help getting started on your Canvas course website?
As a first step, request a course site on Canvas. Canvas sites are not generated automatically for every course; they are created upon request by the instructor.
Course site requests should be submitted no later than 3 weeks prior to the start of the semester.
The Penn Canvas Support team at the Library completes new course site requests and offers assistance with technical issues related to Canvas. Contact canvas@pobox.upenn.edu with questions related to site requests.
