In and of the community
Working in the community is not something we simply expect students to do in their free time. Penn recognizes the value of this work to our academic mission. ABCS courses link theory and practice through activities that make a significant difference to our neighbors in West Philadelphia and throughout the region. Through these courses, students and faculty work with public schools, local communities of faith, and community organizers to solve critical local issues in areas related to the environment, health, the arts, and education.
Diversity of options
Penn offers over 160 ABCS courses through a variety of schools and disciplines across the University coordinated through the Barbara and Edward Netter Center for Community Partnerships. The Netter Center maintains a list of all available and upcoming ABCS courses.
